Enjoy a once in a lifetime stay at Transylvania’s Ice Hotel and absorb some of Romania’s most picturesque medieval towns on a whirlwind adventure. After one night in the vibrant capital city of Bucharest, we will be whisked away into the heart of rural Romania through the plains of the Transylvanian countryside visiting the decadent Peles Castle on the way.

In Brasov, we will enjoy a leisurely stroll around charming cobbled streets, stopping to warm up in one of the town’s bohemian cafes dotted along snow-dusted alleyways off the main square, or you can choose to unravel history on an informative walking tour taking in the Black Church and even the narrowest street in Europe!

Day 01 :

Tuesday 17th February

Arrival in Bucharest followed by a private airport transfer to our boutique accommodation in the Lipscani district where we will be greeted with a coffee or glass of wine and a welcome meeting before checking in. After a little time to settle in we will head out into the old town to explore and discover the plethora of restaurants and bars, a meal will be booked for this evening somewhere local.

Day 02 :

Wednesday 18th February

After breakfast we take a morning transfer to Transylvania via Sinaia with a visit to the magnificent Peles Castle before heading on to the medieval town of Brasov.

Check in and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Brasov’s charming old town. There will also be the option of a guided walk (not included) although it is lovely to walk around the little streets and get to know the town as we go.

Day 03 :

Thursday 19th February

After an early start we will travel through the Fagaras Mountains to the cable car which will transport us up to Balea Lake and the Ice Hotel. We have the afternoon to spend on the mountain enjoying a range of snow-based activities including the unmissable Tunnel Trek. Please note that activities packages and the tunnel trek are extra, that way everyone can choose to do the activities that they want to. The activities vary from year to year but have previously included Tubing, Snowmobiling and ice skating.

The Tunnel Trek adventure takes you on a journey through the mountain tunnel and out again to some absolutely spectacular views of the wild Carpathian Mountains and glimpses of alpine wildlife including the epic mountain goat. The trek lasts approximately 75 minutes and is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. You will be equipped with a head torch and a guide for safety. (Tour is approximately £10 and is not included in the price of the trip.)

Time to get ready for our big night in the Ice Hotel , which kicks off with the Ice Hotel Dining Experience and drinks at the Sub Zero Ice Bar (not included dinner costs around £55 ).

Day 04 :

Friday 20th February

Head back through Transylvania stopping for a visit at Bran Castle, known to many as Dracula’s Castle before travelling back to Bucharest for the final night. Dinner will be booked for us at a local restaurant.

Day 05 :

Saturday 21st February

After breakfast and checking out we have some free time to explore the capital city further before taking the transfer to the airport for the flight home.

Which flights do you recommend?

You need to book your own flights and these are with British Airways and are £173 as of today including 10kg cabin luggage. I would advise to book your flight as soon as possible after booking on to the trip as they are likely to rise the sooner we get to the date of departure.

You are welcome to book more suitable flights from a different UK airport. If you arrive in Bucharest in time for the transfers you can join the group. If your flight times are different you can take a transfer to meet the group, this will be at your own expense.

What if the weather affects the stay at the ice hotel?

In the very rare instance that we are unable to ascend the mountain up to the Ice Hotel an alternative accommodation will be offered and no refunds will be made.

What is the physical accessibility of this trip?

We have rated this as a moderate difficulty rating. On some days there is a fair amount of walking involved and to ensure everyone’s enjoyment we ask that you consider this before deciding to join the group .

By paying the deposit for this trip you are confirming that you are physically able to participate in all aspects of this trip unassisted.

What are the costs of this trip?

The price of the above tour is £679 .All payments need to be made into the Protected Trust Services account.
A non refundable deposit of £100 If we haven’t received your deposit within 3 days of RSVP, your RSVP will be changed to “not going” and your space will be released. The balance of £579 needs to be paid by 10th January.
