Itinerary.
Meet the group at the airport and board our flight to Germany
Upon our arrival in Baden Baden we will take our private transfer to the Gorgeous Hotel Beek By Anna where we will be staying for the next 4 nights. Breakfast is included each morning.
The Funicular Railway, Faberge Museum, Train Station and Carcassonne Spa are all just a short walk away. Neues Schloss Castle is just a 4 minute walk.
Throughout the tour we will be staying in twin rooms but there is an option to have a room to yourself for the trip. If you wish to have a room to yourself for the 4 nights the supplement will be £130. The supplement will be payable at the same time as the balance.
The Travel Buddies trips work on the basis that as long as you are having a good time then that is what matters, if you don’t feel like coming on one of the excursions or joining the rest of the group for dinner one evening then that is absolutely fine. This is an adventure for everyone and there is nothing worse than having to go somewhere/do something that you don’t really fancy!
Feel free to do as much or as little research as you like, some members will know what they would like to visit as soon as they book the trip, Others will just turn up at the airport and have not researched at all. Either is absolutely fine. We all have different ideas as to what constitutes a great time away!
Settle in and relax .
Dinner will be booked at a local restaurant for the group this evening.
This morning we will board the train to Triberg for a wonderful self guided day out. The train takes just over an hour and transfers to and from the station as well as train tickets are included.
Triburg is home to the World’s largest and smallest cuckoo clocks, the World’s most exclusive cuckoo clock, and for something a little different… Germany’s highest waterfall!
In the centre of town is Haus der 1,000 Uhren, or House of 1,000 Clocks. A family run business with a rich heritage for over 100 years, it is one of the best places to see and buy cuckoo clocks in the Black Forest, with probably the best selection too! The building itself is like a giant cuckoo clock… with mechanical bears climbing, playing on a swing, and clock making on the front, and a cuckoo clock coming out every hour. At the back of the shop there’s even a small carving section, where cuckoo clock faces are being carved.
Visit the Worlds largest Cuckoo clock
A short walk away this is a must see and you can pay around £2 to go inside and see the clock mechanisms.
Walk to the waterfalls
Germany’s highest waterfalls in Triberg are a unique memorable attraction. Foaming and roaring, with a descent of 163m the water of the river Gutach plunges over seven major steps down into the valley.
Learn about animals, plants and special features of the waterfall area on descriptive boards and observe the many squirrels along the paths.
The main entrance to the waterfall is easily and quickly reached on foot from the town centre.
When we are feeling like we need a break we can stop off at one of the wonderful patisseries for a slice of Black Forest Gateau. Mmmm.
We will return by train in the evening.
Dinner will be booked at a local restaurant for the group
Tonight let’s get glammed up for a visit to the famous and super glamorous Casino. (no need to bet, it is absolutely fine to just go along to enjoy the atmosphere and the experience) Gents please note:
A note from the Casino; We ask men to wear a suit jacket or a tuxedo; a shirt and a tie are desired. If you decide to visit us spontaneously without the appropriate dress, we will gladly provide you with a jacket for a small fee (10.00 Euros).
There is a small entrance fee of £5 per person
Today is a free day but I will look into hiking options so that those of us that would like to can get into the great outdoors. I will let everyone know the details before the day. I think it will be between 3-5 hours through the forest with a stop along the way or we can take snacks with us. It will be moderately paced.
If this is not for you then there are many places to explore in Baden Baden itself….
Why not browse the Faberge Museum.
The museum’s more than 1500 items, including four Imperial Easter Fabergé Eggs, famous table clocks and Easter eggs. The entrance ticket is 21 Euros.
Dinner will be booked at a local restaurant for the group this evening.
It’s off to the Caracalla Spa today. Just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and we have a full day ticket to use the thermal pools and sauna complex. Tickets are included.
A large domed building is the heart of the bathing area with over 900 square meters of water. All pools are filled with valuable healing water that is fed directly from the springs. The unique mineralization and the pleasantly warm water temperatures between 32°C and 38°C have a relaxing effect on the muscles, joints and skin and offer a unique bathing experience.
Discover seven saunas, including the new GreatSpa sauna with breathtaking panoramic views over Baden-Baden. Enjoy a variety of infusions, numerous opportunities to relax and the idyllic atmosphere of the beautiful castle garden.
Today after checking out in the late morning we have some free time to do all of the bits we haven’t already managed to fit in before taking our private transfer to the airport for our flight home.
