Overview.
Join Travel Buddies for a fantastic short getaway to the South of France.The Mediterranean town of Argeles-sur-Mer is proud of its Catalonian roots, and the Catalan influence has left its mark on everything from architecture to local cuisine. The lively harbour, long sandy beach, and tree-lined walkways are even more idyllic against a backdrop of the Pyrenees. Here there are 7 kilometres of long sandy beaches, a rocky coast long of 2 kilometres, a seaside resort which has the great advantage of having the “Pavillon bleu” (blue flag) ensuring the quality of its waters on the beach as well as in the port, and 2 nature reserves.
Itierary.
After meeting at the airport we will catch our flight to Perpignan and upon arrival we will take our private transfer to our hotel.
The stylish Boutique Hotel Le Maritime is situated on the south coast of France, close to the border with Spain.
Le Maritime Hotel is located just 150 metres from the beach. This small hotel features an outdoor pool with sun loungers. Each of the 34 rooms come with air conditioning, a private bathroom with a shower, a flat-screen TV and a telephone.
We will be sharing twin rooms and breakfast is included each morning. A room to yourself is available for a supplement of £100 for the 4 nights.
After settling into the hotel we will take the short walk to the town of Argeles-Sur-Mer where we will enjoy dinner.
Today is a free day, for those in the group that wish to relax around the pool with a book or take the short walk to one of the local beaches for some glorious sunshine… Why not…. or for those feeling a little more active….. Let’s leave the hotel after a leisurely breakfast and go and explore along the picturesque coastal paths.

Today after breakfast we will take a boat to Collioure “The Town of Artists” and also the “Anchovy” Capital. Where we have the day to explore.
Collioure hides a maritime and architectural wealth that’s beyond compare. It’s easy to understand why this Catalonian port and fishing village, with its medieval heritage and colourful sun-drenched Mediterranean coastline, attracted the likes of Matisse, Derain and Picasso. Let’s explore this beautiful corner of Pyrénées-Orientales which is also known as the pearl of the Vermilion Coast.
After a short boat ride we have the day to explore. Follow the Matisse and Derain art trail, visit the “Eglise Notre Dame Des Anges ” or “Le More” , the old quarter where the fishermen lived or relax along the seafront. There is also a museum of modern art.
The Matisse and Derain Art Trail
Artists Henri Matisse and Andre Derain arrived in Collioure in 1905, spawning the internationally renowned art movement known as Fauvism. Many artists have been attracted by Collioure’s “special light” and this art trail pays homage to their works.
An easy 1 hour walk, there are more than twenty reproductions of Matisse and Derain’s work displayed along the coastal path near where the artists would have perched their easels. Near to the paintings are metal picture frames where creative visitors can frame the landscape and photograph a reproduction of the scene depicted in the original masterpieces..
During our visit, we simply must stop off at one of the bars, restaurants or shops on the seafront to sample the famous anchovies of Collioure. (or something different if you aren’t a fan of anchovies!)

Today we can have breakfast, check out and take our private transfer back to the airport for our flight back to the UK.

- The below flights are the suggested flights. You are more than welcome to book different flights from wherever is most convenient for you in the UK. If you wish to join the group from a different flight you will need to arrange a transfer to the hotel.

Suggested flights are with Ryanair and are as follows. They are currently £78.98 return from Birmingham for the flight only. This includes a small bag. You can add luggage.
